PCA Academic Integrity Policy
1. Purpose
Paragon Christian Academy is committed to maintaining a learning environment grounded in honesty, integrity, and academic excellence. This Academic Integrity Policy establishes the standards expected of all students in their academic work.
2. Biblical Foundation
Academic integrity is rooted in biblical principles of truthfulness and diligence. Students are called to work as unto the Lord in all assignments and studies (Colossians 3:23).
3. Definition of Academic Integrity
Academic integrity means that all academic work submitted by a student is:
The student’s own original work
Completed honestly and without deception
Properly credited when external sources are used
4. Violations of Academic Integrity
The following actions are considered violations:
a. Plagiarism
Copying or using someone else’s work, ideas, or content without proper credit.
b. Cheating
Using unauthorized materials, assistance, or methods during assignments, quizzes, or exams.
c. AI Misuse
Using artificial intelligence tools or external systems to complete work when not explicitly allowed by the instructor.
d. Collusion
Working with others on individual assignments without permission.
e. Fabrication
Falsifying data, sources, or information in any academic submission.
f. Unauthorized Assistance
Receiving help from parents, peers, or tutors when individual work is required.
5. Use of AI Tools
At Paragon Christian Academy, the use of AI tools is permitted only when explicitly authorized by the instructor.
When allowed, students must:
Use AI as a support tool, not a replacement for learning
Ensure originality of final submitted work
Follow specific assignment guidelines
Unauthorized AI use is considered academic dishonesty.
6. Student Responsibility
Students are responsible for:
Understanding assignment expectations
Asking for clarification when needed
Submitting original work
Properly citing sources when required
Ignorance of the rules is not an acceptable excuse.
7. Consequences of Violations
Academic integrity violations may result in:
Zero grade on assignment
Required redo with reduced credit
Parent/guardian notification
Academic probation
Suspension or dismissal in severe or repeated cases
8. Reporting and Review Process
All suspected violations will be reviewed by school administration. Decisions will be based on evidence, context, and student history.
Students and parents may request a review of decisions through formal communication channels.
